if you take a walk through any human settlement in this area you will feel as if you are getting closer to tarkowski’s zone. i used to roam these mud alleys with my father when i was very young. i wasn’t understanding much back then, besides the pure beauty.
i returned three years ago and to my surprise almost nothing changed. the same mud roads calloused by nearly breaking down cars, the improvised house repairs and the wild horses making their way towards the sunrise. danube delta has the perfect image of a time capsule: god laid it down like this and since then nothing drastically changed. a lot of money has been laundered in this area and it still did not alter the look of this place. even the people seem to hum the same stories about fishes, birds and alcohol.
